Norton Rose Fulbright helps the fight against women and child abuse

Norton Rose Fulbright in South Africa is providing free legal council on domestic violence issues at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court during the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children.

Every morning, for the duration of the campaign from 25 November to 10 December, help-desks staffed by its attorneys are available at the family court.

The assistance includes help with how to complete protection order application forms and the exact procedures that must be followed. The process for receiving help from the court is a challenge for many women who are seeking escape from domestic violence

“Our experienced onsite team provides crucial, practical help to the victims of abuse. We are also relieving some of the pressure on the courts clerical staff by assisting the women to complete the correct court documents which bring about a speedier turn-around times on their cases.
