Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright announced today that well-known litigation  lawyer Marie Cossette will join its Quebec City office as a partner on February 12.

Called to the bar in 1991, she has for many years been involved in high-profile and complex cases in various areas of litigation. A significant portion of her practice is focused on public, administrative and disciplinary law.

Marie Cossette is often called upon to take part in cases involving the government. Over the years, she has developed extensive experience in public inquiries: Charbonneau Commission, Johnson Commission, Gomery Commission, Poitras Commission and, most recently, the Chamberland Commission.

Her practice also includes commercial and construction litigation. In parallel, she has developed sought-after crisis management and media relations skills during litigation cases.

Olga Farman, managing partner in Quebec City, said:

“Marie brings a wealth of experience to the team. She is not only a renowned litigator and respected leader in our legal and business community but is also known for being one of the best lawyers in her field. She is a strong addition to our high performing and experienced global team.“

Marie Cossette, partner in Quebec City’s litigation practice, commented:

“I am delighted to join Norton Rose Fulbright with its blue-chip reputation and global reach. I was looking for a platform that would offer continued growth and opportunities. It is exciting to be part of a team and firm with such a depth of expertise both locally and across the world.”

Marie Cossette has been involved in supporting women in the Quebec City business community, namely as leader of the Défi 100 jours L’effet A challenge, an initiative that encourages women to thrive and surpass themselves professionally.

Last year, she was named as an ambassador of the Leadership au féminin program by the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de Québec. She also often appears in the media as a legal analyst.

In 2014, Marie Cossette was awarded the title of Advocatus Emeritus (Ad. E.) by the Quebec Bar.
