Gabriel Granatstein practises exclusively in the area of employment and labour law, representing both federally regulated employers and provincially regulated employers in Quebec and Ontario before all manner of tribunals in both French and English.
Mr. Granatstein also assists employers in managing employee and labour-related risk through advice and consultation on matters such as harassment, health and safety, absenteeism and the drafting and interpretation of employment contracts and workplace policies, with a particular focus on supporting international businesses seeking to establish operations in Canada.
Mr. Granatstein began his career at our Montréal office, where he practised until 2012. He then spent three years directing the employee relations team for a major retailer, headquartered in Toronto, where he helped establish and run a national human resources framework for about 20,000 employees.
Previously, he served as an officer in the Canadian Forces and was deployed as a peacekeeper in Bosnia. He continues to serve as a reserve officer in the Judge Advocate General branch of the Canadian Armed Forces.
