Mike Rebeiro named Outstanding Supporter at Action for Children’s Awards

Recognition March 17, 2017

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright is delighted to announce that Mike Rebeiro, partner and global head of technology and innovation, has been awarded Outstanding Supporter at Action for Children’s 2017 annual Stephenson Awards.

The awards took place in London on March 14, and celebrates those who go the extra mile in their support to ensure that Action for Children is there for the UK’s most vulnerable and neglected children, young people and families.

Mike has been a stalwart supporter of Action for Children since 2007, and has been actively involved with Byte Night,  Action for Children’s annual technology industry sleep-out, since 2009. He also has co-chaired the Byte Night London board since 2014.

Mike Rebeiro, partner and global head of technology and innovation, commented:

“The work Action for Children does is truly life-changing and I am honoured to have been able to support this in both my personal and professional capacity. At Norton Rose Fulbright we have hosted the annual Byte Night sleep-out for the past eight years and are privileged to contribute to such a worthwhile cause. This year we will also be running a mini Byte Night fundraiser where 100 children aged seven through to 18 will be sleeping out with their parents.  The funds raised by Byte Night and mini Byte Night will go towards fighting youth homelessness, which affects 80,000 young people in the UK every year.

“This year marks the 20th anniversary of Byte Night and my aim is to give the charity the platform and support to make the sleep-outs a success and break through the £10 million barrier. We look forward to the next 20 years of support and fundraising.”

Nick Jones, Managing Director for Fundraising, Communications & Policy, at Action for Children, said:

“We are delighted to present Mike with the Outstanding Supporter award 2017, his drive and commitment ensure he is always seeking new ways to drive support for Action for Children. We are extremely grateful to both Mike and Norton Rose Fulbright for continuous support over the years, helping turn the Byte Night sleep-out into one of the biggest annual fundraisers in the UK. It is inspiring to see the difference the funds raised at the event can make to the lives of young people in danger of becoming homeless.”

Founded in 1869, Action for Children is one of the UK’s oldest children’s charities and it supports more than 360,000 children, young people and families every year. Action for Children runs more than 600 projects including children’s centres, services for disabled children and their parents and carers, services for young people and care leavers, adoption and fostering services in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
