Jackie is a senior partner in the banking and finance team in the Johannesburg office.

She is a highly experienced banking and finance lawyer with over 17 years of experience in advising on banking and finance matters. Jackie focuses on financial institutions, energy, telecoms and mining and specialises in project finance, acquisition finance, syndicated lending, preference share finance and trade finance.

She has been frequently listed as a leading lawyer in Chambers Global and IFLR1000. She has been recommended for her work in structured finance and project finance and has been described as “hands-on and full of energy and perseverance” and “intellectually rigorous, extremely thorough and really understands the needs of the banks”.     Round 1 of the SA REIPPPP

    • Abengoa Solar Ventures/Industrial Development Corporation: Lead Partner and advised sponsors in relation to the structuring of the 100 MW KaXu solar CSP project, as well as the debt and equity financing of the development, construction and operation of the project.
    • Abengoa Solar Ventures/Industrial Development Corporation: Lead Partner and advised sponsors in relation to the structuring of the 50MW Khi solar CSP project, as well as the debt and equity financing of the development, construction and operation of the project.
    • Standard Bank South Africa/Nedbank – Lead Partner in advising The Standard Bank of South Africa and Nedbank Capital relative to the 135MW ACED Cookhouse wind farm under the RE IPP Procurement Programme that has been awarded preferred bidder status under Phase 1.

    Round 2 of the SA REIPPPP

    • Tsitsikamma – Lead partner and advised Nedbank Limited (acting through its Nedbank capital division) in relation to the development, design, engineering, financing, fabrication, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, testing, delivery, operation and maintenance of a 95.325MW wind power generation facility located on the Project Site in the Kareedouw region of the Eastern Cape Province in South Africa with a generation capacity of 95.325MW together with all associated infrastructure.

    • Ilangalethu: Lead partner in advising sponsors in respect of a 100MW Concentrating Solar Power facility in the Northern Cape Province.
    • Total Mulilo Prieska PV: Lead partner in advising Total in relation to the structuring of the 75MW solar PV project in Prieska, as well as the debt and equity financing of the development, construction and operation of the project.
    • Longyuan Mulilo De Aar 1: responsible partner in advising lender in respect of a 100.5MW wind project in De Aar, Western Cape
    • Longyuan Mulilo De Aar 2 North: responsible partner in advising lender in respect of a 140MW wind in De Aar, Western Cape
    • Sonnedix Mulilo Prieska PV: lead partner and advising sponsors in relation to the structuring of the 75MW solar PV project in Prieska, as well as the debt and equity financing of the development, construction and operation of the project 75MW photovoltaic solar power

    Round 3.5 of the SA REIPPPP

    • Ilangalethu (Ilangalethu:100MW CSP project): Lead partner in advising sponsors in respect of bid submission of a 100MW Concentrating Solar Power facility in the Northern Cape Province.

    Round 4 of the SA REIPPPP

    • Advising various sponsors in bid preparation for Round 4 bid submissions due 18 August 2014

     

    Small Independent Power Producer (IPP) Programme
    • Advised various developers under the small IPP programme in bid submission and currently advising 4 nominated preferred bidders

    • Absa Capital -American Towers – advised Absa Capital relative to acquisition financing to American Towers Corporation for the acquisition of cellular tower sites from Cell C.
    • Investec Bank Limited – Gold One International Limited/Rand Uranium Acquisition – advised Investec Bank Limited in providing finance to Gold One International Limited for the acquisition of Rand Uranium shares and assets.
    • Absa Capital – acted for Absa Capital in restructuring debt finance facilities, to Merafe Resources Limited.
    • Absa Capital – TCTA – advised Absa Capital relative to financing to TCTA relative to a water augmentation project with quasi government recourse.
    • Neotel, South Africa – acting as advisors to Neotel (Proprietary) Limited relative to ZAR.4 billion limited recourse finance and the ZAR180 million property financing facility provided by Nedbank Limited and Investec Bank Limited and currently advising Neotel in the restructuring of its long term debt finance of ZAR4.4 billion.
    • Richards Bay Minerals Black Economic Empowerment Transaction – acted for Rio Tinto Plc, Rio Tinto Limited, BHP Billiton Plc and Richards Bay Minerals in the implementation of the debt and preference share financing related aspects of its black economic empowerment transaction for the value of ZAR15.7 billion.
    • Standard Chartered Bank – Boseto Copper Project, Botswana – acted as advisors to Standard Chartered Bank, Standard Bank, Credit Suisse and Caterpillar Financial SARL relative to project financing facilities to Discovery Copper Botswana (Proprietary) Limited for the Boseto Copper Project in Botswana.
