Leanne Nickels is a workplace relations lawyer based in Perth.
Leanne has experience in both individual and collective workplace relations and regularly advises companies on matters such as the employment law aspects of mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures and restructuring, rationalisations and outsourcing projects. She also advises HR managers and managing directors in their day-to-day operations on human resources, industrial relations and employment related legal issues on an ongoing basis.
Leanne’s employer-based practice includes the negotiation and preparation of employment and contractor agreements as well as enterprise agreements. She regularly gives advice on confidentiality and restraint of trade issues as well as contractual and trade practices issues arising in the employment context. She is experienced in managing industrial disputes.
Leanne advises clients from industries including energy and infrastructure, oil and gas, mining, construction, food retailing, health, financial and professional services and regularly represents their interests before the courts and Fair Work Australia. After graduating from the University of Western Australia in 1992 and being admitted to practice in 1993, Leanne subsequently obtained a Masters degree in Labour Law and Relations from the University of Sydney in 2002. Leanne is in demand as a seminar presenter on various workplace relations topics.
