Wang Yi is a corporate and banking lawyer based in Beijing. She specialises in cross-border merger and acquisitions and banking transactions. Her experience extends across a broad array of sectors including energy, infrastructure, telecommunications, mining, food and pharmaceutical, agricultural, financial services and transport industries. Over the past ten years, she not only advised international clients on doing business in China but also assisted large Chinese State-owned enterprises to expand on international markets under China’s “going global” policy.
Following the rapid growth of Chinese companies’ expansion overseas and the increased demand of financing from Chinese banks, Wang Yi has been advising major Chinese banks on their cross border lending to foreign sovereign borrowers and private borrowers in Australia, Europe, Latin America and Caribbean Region, central Asia, Africa and East Europe. Wang Yi is also acting for large Chinese State-owned companies and private companies on their acquisitions outside China in different sectors particularly natural resources.
Wang Yi qualified in the PRC in 1994 and was admitted to the All China Lawyers Association in 1995. Wang Yi worked for a French legal practice in its Beijing office for five years and joined our practice in 2001. Wang Yi became a partner in May 2009.
Wang Yi is a native Chinese speaker and fluent in English.
