Nigel is a structured asset finance lawyer based in Beijing. He has broad based experience of advising financial institutions, asset owners and project sponsors on structured financings for (i) ships, aircraft, offshore equipment (drill ships, semi-submersible platforms, pipelines etc..), containers and mobile heavy equipment, (ii) industrial projects, (iii) oil and gas reserves, soft commodities and metals.
In recent years his practice has focused on emerging markets, particularly in Africa, central Asia and Latin America. This continues to be a focus for him in Beijing where he acts for Chinese and China based financial institutions providing funding in support of Chinese built equipment (including ships) and international investments by Chinese companies and for foreign companies seeking finance from such institutions.
Nigel joined our London shipping finance department in 1982, was based in Bahrain between 1986 and 1989 and established the Paris office in 1990. He became a Partner in 1990 and was head of our banking department in Paris until his move to Beijing. He is an English solicitor and a French avocat.
