Rob Otty is the Managing Director of our South Africa practice and is based in Johannesburg.
Prior to being appointed MD, Rob practised as a litigation lawyer specialising in insurance law, professional indemnity insurance litigation as well as in engineering and all construction related litigation.
Rob has been involved in a number of large audit related professional indemnity matters including claims arising out of the collapse of the LeisureNet group. He has also assisted insurers in a number of large commercial fire claims including a claim in excess of R750 million arising from the destruction of an industrial building.
Rob is highly recommended by a number of international research publications including Chambers Global.
He was awarded his LLB degree by Wits University in 1990. He joined the Group as a candidate attorney in 1991 and spent five years in Gauteng before moving to Cape Town where he later became head of the office. Rob was appointed Deputy Chairman in September 2009 at which time he returned to Gauteng and our Sandton office. He was appointed Managing Director of our South African practice in April 2011.
