The partners of the Norton Rose Fulbright LLP financial services team invite you to their latest breakfast briefing.
Our breakfast briefings provide insight, practical knowledge and information, and act as a forum for sharing views and advice.
The briefings are likely to be of particular value to senior and middle management within financial institutions with responsibility for compliance, capital markets, investment management, legal, risk and trading.
The financial landscape has started to look very different as a number of waves of financial and technological innovation have eroded the boundaries between financial products and services and those providing them or enabling their provision. FinTech has the potential to transform the financial landscape even further and may alter the scope and objectives of the regulatory and supervisory authorities as they adjust to market developments. Unsurprisingly, public authorities in the EU and beyond have started to investigate the impact that FinTech is having on the financial system, and on the regulation and supervision thereof. Importantly, 9 May 2018 is the date by which Member States are required to have transposed the Cyber-security Directive.
The session will include:
- International regulatory work in the FinTech space
- The regulatory impact of the Cyber-security Directive
- Cryptocurrencies and initial coin offerings
- Project Innovate and the sandbox: recent FCA activity
- The Brexit shadow: how does Brexit impact all this?
The briefings count towards SRA continuing competence. There is no charge for attending.
The briefings will be recorded via webcast and are available after the briefing.
