Meet the team

Our office in Rio de Janeiro focuses on M&A in the oil and gas, energy, and infrastructure, mining and commodities sectors; projects and financing; aviation and shipping finance; restructuring; anti-bribery, corruption and investigations; and international arbitration and disputes.

Partners Andrew Haynes and Glenn Faass, both of whom have established track records of working in Brazil, head our Brazil practice.

Andrew Haynes has significant experience in M&A and oil and gas, having previously been Assistant General Counsel Global Corporate with BP plc, overseeing all M&A legal work for BP globally, including Latin America. Glenn Faass previously led Macleod Dixon’s Brazilian practice for seven years and also headed offices in Russia, Kazakhstan and Venezuela.

In Brazil, we advise on English, Canadian and US law issues. For Brazilian law issues, our team works with a number of leading local law firms, with which we have well established relations and a number of common clients.

In addition to advising on in-country matters, our Brazil practice represents Brazilian and other Latin American corporates and financial institutions investing abroad, a trend which we believe will accelerate. International capability on the ground helps us advise on in-bound work to the region and the regulatory and disputes work resulting from such investments.

Rio de Janeiro is the third of our offices in Latin America, complementing existing offices in Venezuela (Caracas) and Colombia (Bogotá).
