Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright was recognised for innovation in knowledge management at the 2016 Legal Week Innovation Awards.
The Awards, held on May 27, 2016 in London, recognise creative excellence in the legal profession.
The Norton Rose Fulbright dispute resolution knowledge management team won the award for its groundbreaking product, the Court Intelligence Database (CID).
The Court Intelligence Database (CID) is a ‘big data’ project that mines information about ongoing litigation, including:
- arguments being used in a particular type of litigation
- the proportion of claims a particular claimant law firm settles
- law firms acting for a particular client
Norton Rose Fulbright Knowledge Of Counsel Adam Sanitt who spearheaded the database project commented: “One of the greatest challenges for litigators is keeping abreast of what is happening in the Courts. Ongoing claims reveal new trends, developing practice areas, the tactics of competitors and the activities of clients. But knowledge of these claims is limited and we wanted to identify incipient trends in litigation backed by solid data. Other databases of judgments reveal what happened two years ago. CID tells litigators what is happening now and even next year.”
Norton Rose Fulbright partner Sam Eastwood and co-lead for the firm’s London Disputes Innovation Panel commented: “We are delighted to have been recognised for innovation in knowledge management for CID. It is a new source of communal expertise and advanced market intelligence that we believe demonstrates real value to our clients. CID provides genuinely fresh, actionable advice and we look forward to further developing this unique product.”
