Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has today announced the appointment of David Olds as an Of Counsel* in its Singapore-based technology and innovation team. David has spent a number of years working in Yangon and will assist in the development of the firm’s Myanmar practice.

David is re-joining the firm, having previously worked in the Hong Kong and Singapore office for 4 years, before joining a leading telecommunications company as a legal director. David is fluent in English and proficient in Putonghua.

He has been practicing for over 20 years, and has lived and worked in Asia for 18 years. His practice focuses on technology and telecommunications-related matters in the Asia Pacific region. David has focused on assisting clients to enter important emerging markets in this region and to manage the risks that may arise as their businesses expand and the legal and regulatory environment changes.

Stella Cramer, head of the technology and innovation practice for Asia, and head of Risk Advisory for Asia commented:

“David is a seasoned technology and telecoms lawyer and he’s well-known and well-liked by our clients. He has deep regional experience in Asia, and unparalleled knowledge of the legal needs of the technology and telecommunications industries in the region. It’s great to welcome him back to the team.”

Jeff Smith, head of South East Asia commented:

“David’s appointment will provide us with a platform to further build our outsourcing, technology, telecoms, and data privacy practice in South East Asia, including Myanmar, where David has a great deal of experience. We’re seeing huge growth in the technology market in South East Asia, and a corresponding growth in demand for legal services. David will strengthen the team and help us to meet our clients’ needs.”

David Olds commented:

“Having worked as an in-house legal director for a major telecommunications company in the region, I am delighted to be returning to Norton Rose Fulbright. The firm has an excellent reputation in the technology and innovation space, and I look forward to working with Stella and the team to support the firm’s clients in South East Asia and throughout the region.”
