Lima Metro Financing Wins LatinFinance Awards for “Best Transport Deal of the Year” and “Best Bond of the Year”

Global Recognition October 7, 2016

Chadbourne & Parke LLP was pleased to accept two LatinFinance awards in connection with the firm’s work on the international offering to finance the construction of Line 2 of the Lima Metro system. The deal was named “Best Transport Deal of the Year” and “Best Bond of the Year” at the annual LatinFinance Project & Infrastructure Finance Awards.

Chadbourne was counsel to the all of the financial institutions in all four tranches of financing for the expansion of Line 2 of the Lima Metro, including a US$1.15 billion senior secured note offering, a US$800 million bank securitization facility insured by Sace, an Inter-Development Bank securitization facility and a working capital facility. The bond financing represented the largest ever bond offering supported by Peruvian government payment rights. Line 2 of Lima Metro is one of the largest projects initiated under the country’s comprehensive infrastructure build-out plan, which has developed steadily over the last few years, with more projects in the pipeline.

This transaction has already won multiple industry awards, including “Deal of the Year” awards from IJGlobal, International Financial Law Review, Project Finance International and Trade Finance.

The Chadbourne team that worked on the deal was led by partner Daniel Spencer with assistance from partners Kenneth Hansen and Scott Berson and counsel Joseph Giannini. Chadbourne also previously represented the sponsors on the international offering of US$200 million in senior secured VAC-indexed notes to finance Line 1 of the Lima Metro project.

The LatinFinance awards were presented at a ceremony held in New York City on September 29, 2016.
