Norton Rose Fulbright boosts national corporate team again with Sydney hire

Global People August, 8 2017

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has announced another new partner for its national corporate team, welcoming international corporate and M&A lawyer Martin Irwin to its Sydney office.

Joining from Baker & McKenzie, Mr Irwin has a focus on infrastructure, energy and resources, privatisation and project finance. His broad practice has benefited from stints working in both Singapore and Hong Kong and his experience advising on major transactions across the Asia Pacific region.

He advises institutional and strategic investors and other capital providers on M&A, public private partnerships, project finance and corporate finance transactions. His clients include some of the world’s biggest pension funds, global and Australian banks, and multinational companies.

The addition of Mr Irwin follows the appointment of experienced corporate M&A partner Adam Edelman in Perth, who joins in September this year.

Norton Rose Fulbright managing partner in Australia, Wayne Spanner, commented:

“Our national corporate team continues to attract high quality senior lawyers from across the profession with deep experience in domestic and cross-border work for many of our core areas of industry focus. The addition of Martin will bolster our offering to clients across financial institutions, energy and infrastructure. He joins at an exciting time for our firm as we continue to grow in the local, regional and global markets.”

Mr Irwin commented:

“I am very pleased to join a leading global firm that is executing on an exciting growth strategy including a strong commitment to my core focus sectors – infrastructure, energy and financial institutions.”

Norton Rose Fulbright in Australia has announced nine other lateral partners since January 2016 and promoted ten new partners to the Australian practice in the past year.
