Norton Rose Fulbright advises Nomad Foods on its acquisition of Aunt Bessie’s

Global Business June 15, 2018

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised Nomad Foods on the agreement to acquire Aunt Bessie’s Limited from William Jackson & Son Limited. The value of the acquisition is approximately €240 million.

The purchase price is expected to be funded through cash on hand and debt. The transaction is expected to be completed during the third quarter of 2018, subject to certain closing conditions including obtaining any necessary regulatory approvals.

Aunt Bessie’s is the leading frozen food company in the United Kingdom, manufacturing, distributing and selling a range of branded frozen food products. The acquisition of Aunt Bessie’s is expected to further develop Nomad Foods’ portfolio in the United Kingdom. The combination of Aunt Bessie’s, Birds Eye and recently acquired Goodfella’s is expected to result in a highly complementary portfolio with significantly enhanced scale, greater diversification and more resources to accelerate category growth. The Aunt Bessie’s acquisition includes a production facility in Hull, England.

Earlier this year, Norton Rose Fulbright and law firm Matheson based in Ireland, advised Nomad Foods on its acquisition of Goodfella’s Pizza.

Jason Moss, corporate partner, Norton Rose Fulbright commented:

“We are delighted to be advising Nomad Foods on its acquisition of Aunt Bessie’s. This transaction will expand Nomad’s portfolio within the United Kingdom and fits alongside its previous acquisitions of Birdseye and Goodfellas Pizza to help position it as a leading supplier of frozen food in the UK market, which is of strategic importance to the Nomad Foods group.”
