Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright is delighted to announce that the firm has been named amongst the Top 12 International Law Firms 2018 for India-related work by the region’s leading legal publication, India Business Law Journal.
Norton Rose Fulbright earned this place in the top tier “after handling a string of high-profile mandates and disputes,” according to India Business Law Journal.
The publication highlighted some of Norton Rose Fulbright’s India related matters including
- London-based GuarantCo on a landmark ₹2.5 billion dual-tranche, unsecured, wrapped and rated bond issuance by Sindicatum Renewable Energy Company – the first ever green bond issued in rupees.
- A syndicate of banks on a cross-border non-recourse financing to Kia Motors India.
- An Indian construction company in a multimillion-dollar Indian-law governed, London-seated International Chambers of Commerce (ICC) arbitration in relation to a dispute with a European design and manufacturing company.
As part of Indian Business Law Journal’s research for the ranking, Norton Rose Fulbright received very positive client feedback including that of Mr Somashis Mohapatra, deputy general manager of corporate legal at CG Power and Industrial Solutions, who commented: “The advice and the work performed … has been by far the best in comparison to all other international law firms we have worked with.”
London-based partner Sherina Petit and head of the Norton Rose Fulbright’s India practice group was also commended for her “approachability, fast response and excellent understanding of clients’ business requirements”.
Norton Rose Fulbright’s India practice group consists of over 50 lawyers in the firm’s global offices including in the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, South Africa, USA and UAE who share know-how, market intelligence and resources to service clients undertaking transactions in or involving India.
“Our disputes offering within the Indian practice group particularly specialises in arbitration, litigation in foreign jurisdictions for Indian companies, various forms of alternative dispute resolution and bilateral investment treaty arbitrations. This is a significant achievement for our firm and for our India practice group. It is a testament to the highly complex type of work we are doing and the consistently high quality of service we’ve been providing to our clients.”
Stephen Begley, Singapore-based partner who advises many of the firm’s India-related project finance deals, commented:
“The number, size and complexity of India-related transactions that we advise on continues to rise year-on-year, demonstrating an increase in our market share as our existing and new clients recognise our broad experience, industry focus and track record in dealing with the most complex and high value deals in the market. Last year, a few of our India deals and matters also received recognition from IBLJ so we are extremely pleased to see the continuity of excellence that we have always strived for.”
