Press release - People January 10, 2019

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright today announced that leading commercial real estate lawyer Kyle Genga has joined its Toronto office.

Kyle has built a diverse portfolio over the last two decades and acted on some of the largest transactions in the commercial real estate sector in Canada, notably as counsel to the purchaser of 90 CIBC retail banking locations and related leaseback transactions.

Kyle advises private sector companies and public sector clients in connection with purchases, sales and financings, lease securitizations, mortgage bond and debenture issuances, limited partnerships, co-tenancies and other joint-venture arrangements, private equity and mortgage investment funds, commercial leasing and design-build transactions.

Stephen Kelly, partner and national chair of the business law group, said:

“Kyle is a respected and seasoned lawyer whose unparalleled knowledge of Ontario’s real estate industry will serve our clients well. Transactions in the Canadian commercial real estate market reached record highs last year and deal sizes were typically large. Purchasers and sellers need sound counsel.”

Mario Caron, senior partner and national chair of the real estate team, commented:

“We are very pleased that Kyle has joined us. His exceptional skills in transactional matters will bring additional depth to our Toronto team and will add to our strong base of lawyers working out of our five other Canadian offices.”

Kyle Genga, partner, said:

“Norton Rose Fulbright is a blue-chip global firm with an impressive client list. It is the perfect fit to further expand my commercial real estate practice and I look forward to working with my colleagues from coast to coast.”

Called to the Ontario bar in 1996, Kyle graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ottawa (1995), and he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University.
