Fulbright partner Michael Barrett was elected on January 31, 2012, to serve as president of the Austin Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).

AIPLA is a non-profit organization for individuals in the Austin area interested in intellectual property issues. They hold a monthly meetings and host special events such as the annual Judges Dinner in honor of Federal Judges.

Barrett practices in Fulbright's Austin office, where he is Austin's representative for the Attorney Evaluation Committee and serves on the Employment Committee. He focuses his practice on patent litigation, patent prosecution and patent portfolio management.

In addition to his work with AIPLA, Barrett is a Barrister member of the Austin Intellectual Property American Inn of Court and the Patent Law Committee for the American Intellectual Property Law Association. He has been honored as a Rising Star in intellectual property litigation and named in Best Lawyers in America for intellectual property law.
