Erin Locker is a member of the Data Protection, Privacy & Cybersecurity practice group. She counsels clients in complex data breach investigation, response and notification, with a focus on statutory and regulatory data privacy compliance. Erin is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) through the International Association of Privacy and Professionals.
In addition to cybersecurity incident remediation, Erin has experience with data privacy preparedness and best practices for drafting privacy policies, handling and transferring data, contracting with third-party data processing vendors, and designing user-driven applications. She provides guidance and compliance advice relating to a variety of state, federal, and international data protection laws and regulations, including breach notification statutes, FTC guidance, FCRA, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, COPPA, FERPA, FTC Act, CAN-SPAM, TCPA, HIPAA, and others. Her litigation background includes data breach and commercial litigation, as well as general business and professional negligence litigation. Erin also has experience with issues relating to media and communications law, First Amendment, FOIA, state open records laws, intellectual property and privacy tort law.
Before joining Norton Rose Fulbright, Erin served as a judicial intern to the Hon. John L. Kane at the United States District Court for the District Court of Colorado and to Judge Richard Elmore of the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
