Candy Lau is a restructuring and insolvency lawyer based in Sydney.
Candy acts for Australia's major banks, insolvency practitioners and corporations. She advises her clients on a diverse range of contentious and non-contentious matters relating to cross-border restructuring and insolvency, asset protection and recovery, enforcement of foreign judgments, dispute resolution and regulatory compliance.
Candy has advised on cross-border insolvencies with significant exposure involving complex litigation and investigations resulting from the collapse of various international corporate entities, complex disputes with proceedings commenced in Hong Kong involving potential white collar crimes as well as various financial services review/remediation projects.
Candy has completed a secondment at a major financial institution in a large-scale review/remediation program. She has also provided legal advice in-house on a variety of issues relating to business banking products, advertising and remediation projects.
Candy is dual-qualified having been admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong where she practised as a litigation and dispute resolution solicitor. She has extensive experience in conducting civil proceedings in both English and Chinese and representing global and regional insurer clients at mediations. She is fluent in Chinese and proficient in Japanese.
