Yanet Aguiar joined our Caracas office in 2004 as an associate. She has oriented her legal practice towards labour law and labour law litigation. She has experience negotiating collective bargaining agreements and in labour conflicts, preparing employment agreements, labour relationship termination advice and negotiating and preparing settlement agreements.

Ms. Aguiar also has experience in due diligence reviews of employment law liabilities in corporate acquisitions, social security and industrial health and safety regulations advice, workers’ compensation and benefit plans, handling administrative labour proceedings before government labour agencies, judicial claims against orders issued by government labour agencies, labour constitutional injunctions and corporate law.

    Minimum salary increase decree

    On June 20, 2018, the President of the Republic passed Decree Nº 3,478, through which the national minimum salary (Decree for the Increase of the Minimum Salary), granted to all public and private sector workers, was increased to Bs. 3,000,000 and the special bonus for pensioners was updated and set at Bs. 1,000,000, as published in Official Gazette Extraordinary N° 6,383 dated April 30, 2018.
