Jane Snoddy Smith is Head of Real Estate, United States.
Jane advises pension funds, REITS and other institutional investors in equity and debt investments, including multiple $1B+ national portfolio acquisitions and dispositions and in joint ventures. Her expertise involves shopping centers, multifamily, office and hospitality projects, hospitals and medical facilities, and public private partnerships, including the Waller Creek project.
She has negotiated settlements in disputes in multiple states involving real estate contracts, development agreements, leases, purchase options and environmental remediation.
Jane likes to teach and has presented numerous papers, including the 2013 Recent Developments in the Law General Session at the ICSC law conference in San Diego. Jane is a Founder of the Center for Women in Law at the University of Texas School of Law, a Fellow of the American College of Lawyers, and past president of CREWNetwork.
Jane has been named three times as a "Woman of Influence," by the Real Estate Forum, and she is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, for Real Estate Law, Litigation- Real Estate and Commercial Litigation. Jane was a Finalist, Americas Women in Business Law Awards - best in real estate category by Euromoney Legal Media Group and was selected for The International Who's Who of Real Estate Lawyers - Who's Who Legal, Law. Outside of work, Jane works with organizations to provide housing for people with disabilities and low incomes, and she is a Stephen Minister, a layperson providing care for people as a part of a non-denominational program in all 50 U.S. states, 10 Canadian provinces and 23 other countries.
