Lucy Deakins is an associate in the energy and infrastructure group. Her practice focuses on energy related issues, including surface use, contract disputes, administrative actions, as well as purchases and sales of assets and operating agreements.  Lucy joined the firm in 2007 in the New York office and moved to the Denver, Colorado office in 2009.

    In law school, Lucy was a managing editor of the Washington Law Review and a member of the Student Health Law Organization. She also was a Moot Court Local Mediation Competition winner.

    Lucy is admitted to practice law in the states of Colorado and New York, the Tenth Circuit, the Federal Circuit, the District of Colorado, and the Southern District of New York.

    • Lead counsel in representation of non-US oil and gas exploration and development company in disputes with surface owners regarding surface access to lands patented under the Stock Raising Homestead Act (before IBLA and in state and federal courts) (Entek GRB LLC v Stull Ranches LLC, 763 F.3d 1252 (10th Cir. 2014))

    • Lead counsel in representation of international company in tortious interference with contract dispute
    • Lead counsel in representation of regional company in breach of operating agreement dispute
    • Lead counsel in representation of minor in discrimination claim before the Colorado Civil Rights Division
    • Representation of former executive of recycling firm on charges of criminal violation of export regulations
    • Lead counsel in representation of non-U.S. energy company entry into participation agreement
    • Lead counsel in dispute between participants in a participation agreement and joint operating agreement
    • Lead counsel in representation of local medical management company asserting breach of contract claim
    • Lead counsel in defense of brokerage house against unauthorized trading claim
    • Representation of major gas pipeline company asserting breach of contract claim against the Department of Interior

    • Defense of major brokerage house in arbitration with former broker; successfully argue for expungement of broker's record
