Stephen Pate has been a partner since 1994 in the Houston office and is the past Chair of the Insurance Practice Group. He has tried over 45 first-party, bad faith, and extracontractual cases to verdict over a 28 year career in coverage work. Pate focuses his litigation practice on property matters, Directors and Officers insurance matters, business interruption issues, CGL insurance matters, builders risk matters, commercial general liability insurance disputes, fraud, and various other extracontractual litigation matters. In June 2013, Pate was elected to be a Fellow of the American College of Coverage and Extracontractual Counsel, which is composed of preeminent lawyers representing both insurers and policyholders involved in coverage and extra contractual matters. He has also been named in the Chamber's Guide for Insurance for the past seven years (2006 - 2013).

    While in law school, Steve was Research Editor for the Vanderbilt Journal. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He was admitted in 1984 to practice law in Texas.
