Norton Rose Fulbright PNG
Harbourside West, Level 1
Papua New Guinea
Norton Rose Fulbright has a long history of working on transactions and projects connected with PNG. We have done significant work for the PNG Government and PNG private enterprises over many years.
Recently we advised on several high-profile energy, mining, infrastructure and telecommunications deals, engaged in dispute resolution, and assisted in the development of key legislation. Much of this work has been done working closely with advisors based in PNG.
A major focus of the PNG practice will be continuing and developing as a PNG law firm working in close conjunction with Norton Rose Fulbright in Asia-Pacific and throughout the world, our strong track record of advice to government, as well as assisting clients to benefit from expected growth in sectors such as infrastructure, power, ports, roads, property, mining (particularly gold and copper), oil and gas and financial services.
Karo Lelai and the team based in Port Moresby are supported by over 50 lawyers across the Asia-Pacific with experience in matters involving PNG interests and assets. Members of this wider team have been actively involved in PNG-related projects for over 15 years. Sydney-based Norton Rose Fulbright partners Anthony Latimer (head of the PNG desk) and Steve Johns, both of whom have years of PNG-related experience, are Australian liaisons to our PNG office. Norton Rose Fulbright PNG is an associated office of Norton Rose Fulbright Australia.
Our work on PNG-related matters has involved project and transactional work, restructuring, privatisations and corporatisations, financing and legislative reviews and legislative drafting. Prior to opening our office in Port Moresby, this work was undertaken with local counsel advising on PNG law aspects.
