Karo Lelai is a corporate lawyer in our Port Moresby office. She has over 15 years’ experience working as a lawyer in Papua New Guinea, with a focus on advising the mining and energy sectors. She draws on a deep understanding of these key sectors, her experience as in-house counsel, and her commercial acumen to provide the practical advice her clients’ need.
Prior to joining Norton Rose Fulbright, Karo had worked in various roles at Petromin PNG Holdings Limited since 2008. Karo’s roles included Senior Legal & Contracts Officer and Group Company Secretary for the group’s subsidiaries, and she was promoted to General Counsel in 2014. In this role she was a member of the Senior Management Committee.
Karo is also Chairman of the PNG Athletes Commission, a board member of the PNG Olympic Committee and a director of TISA Community Finance Ltd.
In addition to her legal qualifications, Karo has a Masters in Business Administration from the University of PNG. She is a registered professional member of the PNG Institute of Directors and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
