Norton Rose Fulbright enters Top 10 in the Stonewall Top 100 Employers 2017 list

Recognition January 18, 2017

The firm rises 12 places in rankings this year in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has ranked in the top 10 this year in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index; this is the fourth year it has been included in the top 100 and the first year it has been included in the top 10. Norton Rose Fulbright is one of five law firms included in the Top 10.

The Workplace Equality Index (WEI) is a powerful evidence-based benchmarking tool used by employers to assess their achievements and progress on LGBT inclusion in the workplace.  The WEI is known to be the most rigorous diversity benchmark in the UK with regularly updated criteria to ensure its validity and over 400 organisations submitting each year.

Norton Rose Fulbright is dedicated to having an inclusive culture and its PRIDE network has made strides in creating this. Currently the firm has series of LGBTA mentoring and reverse mentoring sessions open to all staff and continues to support clients to launch their LGBT networks.

This year has seen the creation and launch of series of LGBT awareness modules for line managers and colleagues, a global photographic rainbow shoelaces campaign and a global rollout of mandatory “Unconscious Bias and Inclusive Leadership Training” to all staff globally.

Stephen Parish, global chair at Norton Rose Fulbright, commented:

“It is an amazing achievement to have risen a further 12 places having already moved up from 75th place in 2015 to 22nd place in 2016. This top 10 ranking is an outstanding achievement and a testament to our inclusive culture and demonstrates how we strive to promote equality within the workplace.”

Laura Hodgson co-chair of the Pride network commented:

“The continued rise in the rankings of Stonewall is confirmation of the continued dedicated work we as a firm do to promote an inclusive culture. At Norton Rose Fulbright we value differences and work hard to create a culture where everyone can be themselves.”

Duncan Bradshaw, Director of Membership Programmes, Stonewall said:

“Norton Rose Fulbright and all those who have made this year’s Top 100 Employers list have done a fantastic job, and really do put equality and inclusion at the forefront of their work. We were thrilled to have 439 submissions for this year’s Index, one of the most competitive yet, and I would like to thank each and every organisation that took part. With your continued efforts and hard work, we will continue to work toward a world where all lesbian, gay, bi and trans staff are welcomed and accepted without exception in their workplaces.”

In addition to entering the top 10 for the first time the Pride network has also been awarded the “Highly Commended Network Group.”

Norton Rose Fulbright's Pride network is sponsored by partner Owen Mulholland and global head of technology and innovation and ally Mike Rebeiro. It is co-chaired by senior knowledge lawyer Laura Hodgson and associate Jamie Morton.
