Nick Merritt is a finance and projects lawyer based in Singapore and is the Asia Pacific Head of infrastructure, mining and commodities. He has a breadth of expertise on the development, financing and acquisition of infrastructure (particularly PPP), energy and mining assets.
Nick specialises in major infrastructure projects, primarily advising and negotiating funding and concession contracts. He has advised clients across a diverse range of sectors including biofuels, defence, mining, petrochemicals, power generation, rail, renewables, sport and leisure infrastructure, water and waste.
He has an extensive practise throughout the region and has advised on many of the leading transactions in the region including the sponsor group developing the Singapore Sports and Infrastructure ‘SportsHub’ PPP project and the lenders to the complex 800MW GMR Energy power project in Singapore - one of the first merchant power plant financings in Asia.
In addition to infrastructure, Nick has advised on a number of mine acquisition and financings throughout the region and has also been intimately involved in a number of soft commodity financings and take-overs, particularly in the regional palm oil and sugar industries.
Nick has been based in Asia since 2000.
