Norton Rose Fulbright takes part in national Byte Night outdoor sleep-out for Action for Children

Firm October 6, 2017

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright will take part in the 20th annual Byte Night for Action for Children in London and Newcastle on October 6, 2017.

This will be the firm’s ninth consecutive year of hosting and participating in Byte Night in London, with the Newcastle legal process hub participating in the North East ‘sleep-out’ for the first time.

Byte Night is Action for Children’s biggest annual fundraiser; a national ‘sleep-out’ event where over 1500 people from across the technology industry give up their beds for one night to help changes the lives of vulnerable people.

A 27-strong team from the firm in London, led by global head of technology and innovation and Byte Night London co-chair Mike Rebeiro, whilst eight in Newcastle led by Jeremy Coleman, will participate in the event.

Since 2008, Norton Rose Fulbright has raised over £700,000 for Action for Children through its support for Byte Night from its annual gala dinner, the sleep-out, and other fundraising activities.

Mike Rebeiro commented:

“We are delighted to host and participate in Byte Night London, and thrilled our Newcastle colleagues can support Byte Night too. As a firm we have supported Action for Children for nine years and recognise the work they do is absolutely vital. We are honoured to contribute to such a worthwhile event with funds raised by Byte Night going towards fighting youth homelessness, which affects 80,000 young people in the UK every year.

“This year we are aiming for an ambitious £150k! This year marks the 20th anniversary of Byte Night and my aim is to give the charity the platform and support to make the sleep-outs a success and break through the £10 million barrier. We look forward to the next 20 years of support and fundraising.”

Action for Children’s Managing Director, Nicholas Jones said:

“We are thrilled to once again have such fantastic support from Norton Rose Fulbright in both London for our 20th Byte Night event as well as in Newcastle this year too.

“This incredible support for Byte Night helps us to continue our work tackling the root causes of homelessness, as well as helping to keep vulnerable young people off the streets and enabling them to build better lives.”

Founded in 1869, Action for Children is one of the UK’s oldest children’s charities and it supports more than 390,000 children, young people and families every year. Action for Children runs more than 600 projects including children’s centres, services for disabled children and their parents and carers, services for young people and care leavers, adoption and fostering services in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
