Norton Rose Fulbright Head of Singapore named Finance Lawyer of the Year, Asia, at The Asia Legal Awards, 2018

Norton Rose Fulbright is delighted to announce that Yu-En Ong, Head of Singapore, has been named Finance Lawyer of the Year, Asia, at the Asia Legal Awards, 2018, dinner ceremony in Hong Kong, on March 22.

The annual Asia Legal Awards recognises and celebrates significant achievements of leading legal practices and lawyers in the region. Hosted by ALM Media Inc., the Asia Legal Awards is one of the largest legal sector award ceremonies in Asia. ALM Media operates leading legal trade publications around the world including The Asian Lawyer, The American Lawyer, China Law & Practice and Legalweek.

The Finance Lawyer of the Year, Asia, award recognises Yu-En Ong’s expertise and commitment to his practice and his clients. His deal highlights over the past 12 months include:

• Advising Singapore-based Frasers Centrepoint Limited on the cross-border asset portfolio acquisition financings of over US$500 million collectively
• Advising Thailand-based BCPG Public Company Limited, a producer and distributor of electricity obtained from solar cells, on a US$355 million stake acquisition in Star Energy Group Holdings
• Advising on the world’s first green bond issued in Indian Rupees by a Singapore corporate – US$40 million dual-tranche unsecured wrapped and rated bond issuance by Sindicatum Renewable Energy Company Pte Ltd

Yu-En advises aspects of structured finance such as acquisition finance, asset finance, structured trade and commodities finance, telecoms finance and cross border real estate finance. He has worked at Norton Rose Fulbright for more 13 years and has spent time in the firm’s London, Hong Kong and Singapore offices. He was appointed Head of Singapore in 2017.
