US Head of IP receives Judge David Wellington Chew Award from APIS

Gina Shishima, Norton Rose Fulbright’s US Head of Intellectual Property and a member of the firm’s US management committee, received the Judge David Wellington Chew Award from the Asian Pacific Interest Section (APIS) of the State Bar of Texasat the 22nd Annual APIS Conference awards luncheon on April 7 in Austin, Texas. Established in 2002, the award honors “individuals whose selfless contributions benefit the Asian-Pacific American legal community of Texas.”

It is named for Justice David Wellington Chew, former Chief Justice of the Texas Eighth District Court of Appeals for his pioneering achievements as one of the first Asian-Pacific Americans in the Texas judiciary.

Shishima previously served on the board of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) and co-chaired NAPABA’s Women’s Leadership Network until last year; she currently co-chairs a NAPABA subcommittee of partners in senior management. She was one of the founding members of the Austin Asian American Bar Association (AAABA) in 2006 and served on its governing council for 10 years. She is currently on the board of Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC) in Washington, DC. Most recently, she was bestowed with the Profile in Diversity Journal's 2016 Diversity Leader Award.
