We welcome new technology partner Lisa Fitzgerald in Melbourne

Australia Press release - Firm April 2024

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright today welcomes new technology partner Lisa Fitzgerald in Melbourne.

Qualified to practise law in both Australia and the UK, Lisa has spent two decades advising private and public sector clients, working from London, Sydney and Melbourne. Her focus is on technology, media, telecommunications, intellectual property rights and privacy, across a range of industries including technology, financial services, telecommunications, consumer and digital markets, health and pharmaceuticals.

Lisa is highly experienced in cross-border transactions, regularly advising clients expanding into domestic and international markets. She assists global and domestic clients to navigate Australia's complex regulatory landscape from privacy and data protection to competition and consumer law, therapeutic goods, prudential standards, telecommunications and security of critical infrastructure regimes.

Lisa also advises on large scale procurement, outsourcing, product launches and localisation, IP commercialisation and characterisation of payments/royalties, as well as the evolving area of AI.

Lisa joins from law firm Lander & Rogers, where she was partner and co-head of the national digital economy practice. Prior to that she worked at Allens and Gilbert+Tobin in Australia and Pinsent Masons in London, and was also associate to former Justice of the High Court of Australia, the Honourable Kenneth Hayne AC, KC.

Norton Rose Fulbright chief executive partner in Australia, Alison Deitz, commented:

“The rapid pace of technological change, including the digital transformation of industries, the growth of AI and increased cyber risks, is impacting all clients and placing increasing demands on our firm to provide seamless domestic and cross-border advice. The addition of a highly accomplished international practitioner in Lisa Fitzgerald will provide a significant boost to our technology, financial institutions, telco and health and pharmaceuticals clients.”

Lisa Fitzgerald commented:

“Digital transformation provides clients with the opportunity to reshape their organisation to improve the way they operate, delivering enhanced customer experiences while reducing costs and enabling a secure, hybrid workforce.  The global nature of customers and technology suppliers requires a global mindset to manage risks and capture the benefits that underpin successful transformation programs. Norton Rose Fulbright’s international technology, cyber, data and privacy practices provide the ideal platform for clients navigating digitalisation and global markets. I look forward to bringing clients a unique blend of leading experience and international insights to help them excel in Australia and around the world.”
