Biography

Elizabeth Wild is Head of our national Environmental & Planning practice in Australia, and is based in Sydney.

She has almost 30 years' experience, and is a specialist in all areas of environmental law, with a particular expertise managing issues relating to contaminated land and remediation law.

Liz advises on all legal and strategic aspects associated with contaminated land, including disputes regarding all forms of contamination, strategies for the investigation, remediation and marketing of contaminated land and obtaining planning and environmental approvals for the remediation and development of contaminated land. She has been involved in many of the landmark cases in this area and acts for both polluters and claimants in a number of environmental disputes involving the torts of nuisance and negligence, including in relation to PFAS contamination.

Her understanding of the various contaminated land regulatory systems across Australia has enabled her to provide strategic advice to a range of public and private sector clients regarding their obligations with respect to contaminated land holdings within their property portfolios and strategies for divesting or acquiring potentially contaminated land. Liz is also experienced in all areas of pollution law and has assisted many private and public sector clients in managing potential and actual environmental incidents, including negotiating, interpreting and ensuring compliance with contracts which facilitate clean-up works.
