Norton Rose Fulbright welcomes return of regulatory partner

Global Press release - Business September 2019

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has strengthened its banking & finance practice in Germany with the hire of renowned regulatory lawyer Caroline Herkströter. After working with DekaBank, she joins the Frankfurt office of Norton Rose Fulbright again, where she had been a regulatory partner from 2007 to 2015.

Over the last three years, Caroline has gathered additional experience as head of the legal department at DekaBank, one of Germany’s leading financial institutions. As asset manager of Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe, DekaBank manages assets totalling approximately € 276 billion (as at the end of 2018) and around 4.5 million customer securities accounts.

Norton Rose Fulbright’s German banking & finance practice group is highly-reputed in acquisition and credit financing, asset and project financing and regulatory advice for funds and asset management.

Dr. Oliver Sutter, head of the German banking & finance practice, commented:
"We are delighted to welcome Caroline back to Norton Rose Fulbright. She will significantly strengthen our regulatory team and will use her valuable client-side experience to intensify our advisory spectrum.  Her return enhances our banking team and Norton Rose Fulbright in Germany as a whole.”

Caroline said:
"Working for DekaBank was a wonderful and intensive experience. Nevertheless, I realized that I missed the work and tasks as a lawyer in a global law firm. The move back to Norton Rose Fulbright gives me the opportunity to work directly with clients again and support them in their transactions.”
