Rita Gao

Biography

Rita Gao is an IP lawyer based in Toronto.  

Her practice focuses on the creation, licensing and management of intellectual property assets in Canada, the United States, and around the world. She also conducts due diligence and drafts technology-related agreements such as IP licensing/assignment agreements, software development agreements, joint development/ collaboration agreements, end-user product licensing agreements, terms of use for websites, and non-disclosure agreements.

Rita has experience with numerous fields of technology, including computer hardware and software, mobile devices, telecommunications, near-field communications, medical devices, cloud-based technologies, image processing, vehicle computing systems, enterprise resource planning systems, and other consumer and industrial products.

Prior to her legal career, Rita was with Deloitte Consulting, where she worked on various technology strategy projects for companies in private and public sectors.

While pursuing her engineering degree at the University of Toronto, Rita gained industry experience working at a national wireless telecommunications company.
