Pensions Regulator launches initiative exploring barriers to pensions investment in growth assets

The Regulator launched an initiative to explore the approach of DC and DB pension schemes to investing in growth assets on December 8, 2025.
It will collect market intelligence through targeted engagement with key investment consultancies, pension schemes and industry representative bodies to understand the range of market opportunities and investment vehicles available to pension schemes, including their limitations and barriers, with an emphasis on UK investment opportunities. The focus will be on schemes with material scale which may be considering, or have potential to make, investments in this area.
The Regulator intends to publish its findings in a market oversight report in 2026 and will share its conclusions with the Government.
