Biography

Adjou Ait Ben Idir is a corporate finance lawyer based in Dubai. She was previously based in our offices in Paris and Casablanca. Adjou covers Middle East and Africa (in particular North Africa and OHADA countries in West and Central Africa).

Adjou is recognised for her experience in advising on mergers and acquisitions, privatisations, private placement and international joint ventures in various sectors. She has a broad range of experience in cross-border transactions in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Adjou works under Civil law and Common law systems and has a deep knowledge on UAE, North Africa, OHADA, English and French law. She assists our major clients in relation to their cross border transactions Middle-East/Africa related.

Previously, Adjou worked for Total SA (where she worked mainly on corporate social responsibility/anti-corruption and human rights issues in energy projects and M&A transactions in the Middle East and Africa) and a French law firm.

She graduated from the University of Paris II Assas (master's degree) and the University of Paris I Sorbonne (post-graduate degree in OHADA and African countries law, and post-graduate degree in MENA/Arab countries law). Adjou was also a researcher on corporate social responsibility/compliance issues in M&A transactions at Paris I - Pantheon Sorbonne (research laboratory of comparative law).

Adjou was awarded "M&A Lawyer Monthly – Women in Law 2016 Award" in recognition of her "outstanding legal expertise and contribution within the practice area of Merger & Acquisition Lawyer of the Year", and "M&A Lawyer of the Year – UAE, Legal Awards 2016".

Adjou speaks French, English, Arabic and Berber.
