Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners Announce Construction of Travers Solar – Canada’s Largest Solar Project C$700m

Canada | June 29, 2021

Client: Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners

A cross-border team from Calgary and New York jointly advised Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, a fund management and investment firm specializing in renewable energy infrastructure with approximately €6.8bn under management, with the acquisition (at an early stage of development) and subsequent development of the 465 MW Travers solar power project in southern Alberta.  The Canadian team advised on construction, procurement, and operational contract matters, as well as on matters relating to renewable attributes and carbon offsets, while the US team advised on the 400 MW power purchase agreement with Amazon Energy, and on foreign exchange hedging issues. Our teams continue to advise on all other aspects of the project’s development.

Once completed in 2022, this will be one of the world’s largest solar projects, and will be by far the largest solar project in Canada.
