Toronto office advised L1 Capital on the establishment and global offerings

May 2017

Client: L1 Capital Global Long Short Fund

Lawyer:

A cross-border team from global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised L1 Capital, an independent equities fund manager, on the establishment and global offering of L1 Capital Global Long Short Fund. The new offshore fund will employ a long/short investment strategy, which involves buying “long” and selling “short” a stock or basket of stocks, in anticipation of profiting from changes in the price differential between the respective long and short positions. The fund will invest in Australian and international shares as well as derivatives. L1 Capital will raise capital from institutional and high net worth investors in USA, Canada, NZ, Israel, UK and Australia. The fund manager was advised by a Norton Rose Fulbright team spanning Australia, the US, Canada and the UK.
