Norton Rose Fulbright Canada to become certified as a Progressive Aboriginal Relations firm

Canada Press release September 29, 2022

Norton Rose Fulbright, a global law firm, is committed to taking tangible steps in Canada towards reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. As part of this work, we have joined the Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) certification program through its membership with the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business. PAR certification offers a framework to embed good Indigenous relations and practices within the firm and signifies that an organization has committed itself to good performance in that regard.

As part of the journey, Norton Rose Fulbright Canada wants to build meaningful relationships based on respect and trust with Indigenous Peoples and support Indigenous businesses and communities. We pledge to pursue PAR certification, and commit to:

  • listening and learning about the unique cultures and histories of Indigenous communities in Canada, and particularly in regions where we work and live;
  • building Indigenous cultural sensitivity and knowledge to ensure an inclusive workplace;
  • retaining Indigenous-owed businesses as our suppliers where available;
  • increasing Indigenous representation in the firm;
  • supporting and building long-term relationships with Indigenous not-for-profit organizations; and
  • dedicating pro bono services to Indigenous communities and organizations.
