Biography
Joseph Palmieri practises corporate and securities law, with a particular emphasis on public and private mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and securities. He has acted for both purchasers and vendors in a number of domestic, international and cross-border M&A transactions and on securities offerings, including initial public offerings, private placement financings and corporate reorganizations. Mr. Palmieri is also a member of our special situations team, which encompasses Canada's leading hostile M&A, shareholder activism and complex reorganization transactions.
Prior to joining us as an associate, Mr. Palmieri worked in our Toronto office as a summer student and an articling student. During his articles, Mr. Palmieri completed a secondment in the Royal Bank of Canada's legal department where he gained valuable experience working with its public company and corporate services group.
In law school, Mr. Palmieri was awarded the Harley D. Hallett Award and the Honourable F.H. Barlow Award for academic excellence in business law. He also served as a caseworker for the Osgoode Business Clinic, providing legal advice to clients seeking to implement new business ideas, and was involved in various initiatives surrounding trends in corporate governance and shareholder activism.
