Fred Barbieri has over 20 years of experience practising intellectual property law with a focus on creation, prosecution and strategic management of intellectual property assets. Fred has prosecuted patent and industrial design applications in many technology subject matter areas pertaining to the software and wireless telecommunications industries.
As in-house counsel at a major wireless telecommunications company, Fred strategically managed global patent portfolios, advised on inventor assignments and formal documents, participated in IP due diligence for acquired companies, prepared claim charts, and actively mined for new inventions within the company. Fred also has experience in all areas of patent, trademark and industrial design prosecution, prepared patentability, validity and infringement opinions, prepared freedom to operate analyses, and provided litigation support.
