Norton Rose Fulbright’s Women’s Networks are delighted to invite you to celebrate International Women’s Day with art historian, Rose Balston.
Join us as Rose takes us through the artwork of Artemisia Gentileschi, an Italian Baroque painter who was considered among the most accomplished 17th century artists. This was an era when women had few opportunities to pursue artistic training or to work as professional artists. Artemisia was the first woman to become a member of the Accademia di Arte del Disegno in Florence with an international clientele.
For many years Artemisia was regarded as a curiosity, but her life and art have been re-examined by scholars in the 20th and 21st centuries, and she is now regarded as one of the most progressive and expressive painters of her generation.
Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let's all choose to challenge.
