Norton Rose Fulbright recognised in the Stonewall Top 100 Employers 2018

Recognition January 31, 2018

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright is proud to announce it has been included in the Top 20 in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index; this is the fifth year it has been included in the top 100.

The Workplace Equality Index (WEI) is a powerful evidence-based benchmarking tool used by employers to assess their achievements and progress on LGBT inclusion in the workplace. The WEI is known to be the most rigorous diversity benchmark in the UK with regularly updated criteria to ensure its validity and over 400 organisations submit each year. As part of the Index there is a staff feedback questionnaire that participating employers can ask their staff to complete. This year Stonewall received over 92,000 responses to the staff survey making it one of the largest national employment surveys in Britain.

Norton Rose Fulbright is dedicated to having an inclusive culture and its Pride network has been a significant contributor in creating this.

Stephen Parish, chair of Europe, Middle East and Asia at Norton Rose Fulbright commented:

“We are delighted to have been included in the top 100 for the fifth year. The ranking continues to be a testament to our firm and we continue to build upon our commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.”

Laura Hodgson, co-chair of the Pride Network commented:

“As a firm we continue to be dedicated to promoting an inclusive culture. We value differences and work hard to create a culture where everyone can be themselves and are delighted to have be continually recognised in the Stonewall rankings.”

Darren Towers, Executive Director, Stonewall said:

“Norton Rose Fulbright and all those who have made this year’s Top 100 Employers list have done a fantastic job. Taking part in our Index shows real commitment to understanding and advancing LGBT equality. This year, for the first time, the Index looked at what employers were doing for trans equality in the workplace. This work is crucial. We recently published LGBT in Britain: Trans Report, which revealed the profound inequality facing trans people in Britain today. Half of trans people have hidden their identity at work for fear of discrimination. This must change and it’s encouraging to see so many organisations make a commitment to trans equality. With their support and hard work we can create a world where all lesbian, gay, bi and trans employees are welcomed and accepted without exception.”

The Norton Rose Fulbright Pride Network has also been awarded the “Highly Commended Network Group” for the second consecutive year.

The Pride Network is sponsored by partners Owen Mulholland and Mike Rebeiro. It is chaired by senior knowledge lawyer Laura Hodgson and associates Jamie Morton and Jack Mason.
