John Ebbels



John Ebbels practises corporate and commercial law, with a focus on finance, securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, private equity and venture capital. He also assists both domestic and international clients with research, corporate governance, continuous disclosure, regulatory compliance and general corporate matters.

John first joined our Calgary office as an articling student in 2018. Prior to his articles, John completed a summer position with the legal department of Birchcliff Energy Ltd., a major Canadian natural gas producer based in Calgary, where he cultivated an understanding of how business functions interact within the energy industry, including land and asset acquisitions, surveying, drilling, production, marketing and regulatory compliance.

  • Pieridae Energy Limited in connection with its C$190 million acquisition of Shell Canada Energy's midstream and upstream assets in southern Alberta
  • A large Canadian transportation and logistics company in its acquisition of three bulk trucking and transportation businesses in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan
  • A leading pipeline services provider with various cross-border transactional activities in relation to the sale of its assets to an international acquirer
  • A large Canadian oilfield services client and its affiliates on the sale of its well servicing business to a large independent investment firm
