Norton Rose Fulbright advises Alupar Investimento S.A. in nine-figure project financing for Colombian transmission line

Norton Rose Fulbright’s São Paulo and New York offices recently advised client Alupar Investimento S.A. (Alupar) in the signing of a US$163.5 million project financing for a transmission line in Colombia through its subsidiary, Transmisora Colombiana de Energia S.A. E.S.P (TCE).  
 
The groundbreaking transaction marks the first international project financing of a transmission line in Colombia. 
 
Alupar is a Brazilian holding company dedicated to the segments of power generation and transmission. With this investment, Alupar will reach more than 7,900km of transmission lines and will expand its presence in Colombia with its first 500kV transmission line in the country.
 
TCE is responsible for developing and the construction and operation of the 500kV transmission line connecting the Nueva Esperanza Substation and the La Virginia Substation in Colombia.
 
Daniel Spencer (São Paulo) led the Norton Rose Fulbright deal team, which also included José Cobeña, Caspar Davey, Diego Brandão, and Cameron Royse (São Paulo); and Marian Baldwin Fuerst, Marjorie Glover and Kevin Prokup (New York).
