James Parker

Biography

James Parker is a corporate lawyer based in London.  He has considerable experience in public and private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity and corporate restructuring.

James qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2002.  Having worked in London and Germany following qualification, he moved to Hong Kong in February 2010 and qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 2012. After nearly 13 years practising in Hong Kong, James returned to London in January 2023.

  • Cathay Pacific on a Chinese joint venture
  • Moelis & Company in its capacity as financial adviser to Swire Pacific Limited on its successful privatisation of Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering (HAECO) by way of scheme of arrangement
  • Davidson Kempner European Partners on its aborted investment into an aviation company
  • Towerbrook on its acquisition alongside JC Flowers of Railsr Group and related shareholder issues. Completion of this transaction was interconditional with the acquisition by way of scheme of arrangement of Equals Group plc by a consortium comprising Towerbrook, JC Flowers and the sellers of Railsr
  • Vistra on various M&A, corporate, commercial and disputes matters, including its acquisition of the Newhaven group
  • Techtronic Industries (TTI) on a number of M&A and joint venture transactions, including the acquisition of a measuring device manufacturing business in Taiwan and the PRC, the acquisition of two companies whose assets comprised the premises for its new Hong Kong headquarters and a joint venture with Würth
  • G-III Apparel Group on various corporate restructurings affecting both the Donna Karan and Vilebrequin brands
  • The management team of The Executive Centre in relation to its US$325 million management buyout by a consortium led by KKR
  • A Guernsey-based family office, on various investment and M&A matters in the European banking and asset management space
  • Modern Terminals on the Hong Kong Seaport Alliance, an unincorporated joint venture with Hong Kong International Terminals Limited, COSCO-HIT Terminals and Asia Container Terminals
