Norton Rose Fulbright advises lenders on €160 million financing to Casalasco

Italy Press release - Business March 2020

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised a syndicate of 26 banks, including UniCredit, Cassa depositi e prestiti and Deutsche Bank S.p.A., on a financing to Casalasco del Pomodoro Consortium, a leading Italian food company that engages primarily in the production and processing of tomatoes.

Established in 1977, the members of the Casalasco Consortium include 370 independent Italian farms. The company’s portfolio of internationally-recognised brands for tomato-based products includes Pomì and De Rica.

The financing has a total value of approximately €160 million (US$178 million) and will be used to help achieve the company’s economic financial plan for the period 2019-2024.

Gennaro Mazzuoccolo, Norton Rose Fulbright’s Milan-based banking and finance partner who led the deal team, commented:

“We are pleased to have assisted our financial institution clients on this significant transaction. It was particularly challenging due to the large number of parties involved and the extremely tight timeframe. Casalasco is an important part of Italy’s agri-food heritage, and this financing will support its continued success.”
