Footnotes

5   Note: “Grey Hydrogen” refers to hydrogen produced with fossil fuels with the production process’ carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere. Typically produced using natural gas reformation or the gasification of hydrocarbons like coal.

6   Note: “Blue Hydrogen” refers to hydrogen produced with fossil fuels with the production process’ carbon dioxide captured, utilized and stored.

7   Note: “Green Hydrogen” refers to hydrogen produced with renewable electricity and no carbon dioxide emissions during the production process. Recent technological innovations have allowed for hydrogen to be produced by electrolyzing water powered by renewable energy. The water electrolysis process is fairly simple; a water molecule is subjected to an electric current by means of two electrodes in order to separate the oxygen and dihydrogen molecules.
